Capital

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC): BDC supports the development and growth of Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises through its complementary financing, venture capital and consulting services.

Canadian Youth Business Foundation Start-Up Financing Program: Mentoring, educational resources and start-up financing assistance for aspiring young entrepreneurs.

Ontario Innovation Demonstration Fund (IDF): IDF is a discretionary, non-entitlement funding program that focuses on the commercialization and initial technical demonstration of globally competitive, innovative Green technologies, processes and/or products.

SMART Program – Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters: Financial assistance for manufacturing productivity improvement projects such as lean design and lean manufacturing, quality improvement, energy efficiency, IT best practices, and environmental impact reduction.

Commercialization

Ontario Centres of Excellence Inc.: 6 sector-based centres and various programs to strengthen research linkages between academia and industry.

Ontario Research Fund – Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation: The Ontario Research Fund – Research Excellence (ORF-RE) provides research institutions with funding to help support the operational costs of large-scale transformative research of strategic value to the province. ORF-RE provides up to 1/3 of the total value of a project with the remaining 2/3 from a combination of private sector and institutional contributions.

Digital Media

Film or Video Production Services Tax Credit Program – Canada Revenue Agency: Tax credit designed to enhance Canada as a location of choice for film and video productions employing Canadians, as well as to strengthen the industry and secure investment.

Ontario Book Publishing Tax Credit (OBPTC): Tax credit for Ontario publishing companies to publish and promote works by a Canadian author.

Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit (OCASE): Ontario tax credits for computer animation and special effect activities in film or TV productions.

Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (OFTTC): Ontario refundable tax credit for film and video productions.

Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit: Ontario refundable tax credit for labour, marketing and distribution expenditures for the creation of interactive digital media products.

Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC): Ontario refundable tax credit for qualifying labour expenditures for those productions that do not meet the Canadian content requirements.

Ontario Sound Recording Tax Credit (OSRTC): Ontario tax credit to support sound or music video recording activities.

Economic Development

Southwestern Ontario Development Fund: This fund offers support to expand your business or attract business to your community in southwestern Ontario. The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund gives money to businesses, municipalities and not-for-profit organizations for economic development in southwestern Ontario.

The fund supports projects that:

  • create jobs
  • encourage innovation, collaboration and cluster development
  • attract private sector investment

Energy

Huron County Business Support Services

Huron Business Development Corporation

The Huron Business Development Corporation (HBDC) is a non-profit Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) that works in partnership with Industry Canada to “help small businesses grow and prosper in Huron County”. This goal is achieved by providing management counselling, business loans, and support for community projects that strengthen the local economy. Huron Small Business Enterprise Centre

The Huron Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) is a partnership between the County of Huron, the Province of Ontario and the Huron Business Development Corporation.

The SBEC is committed to improving the economic well-being of Huron County through the growth and expansion of small local business ventures.
