In 2006, the Warden of Huron County established the first Task Force on Economic Development. It was comprised of Mayors and municipal staff from all over Huron County. The Warden’s Task Force entered a partnership with Huron Business Development Corporation and the Rural Economic Program from OMAFRA. Together they launched Huron Economic Development Matters, a three-year initiative that ran from 2007-2010.
Now the Huron Economic Development Partnership Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF). This program offers financial resources to projects that develop and enhance a specific sector and/or multiple sectors benefiting economic development in a specific community or County as a whole.
Projects that advance plans and/or strategies outlined in the Huron County Sustainability Plan, the Economic Development Blueprint Strategy or the Huron County and/or Municipality Business Retention and Expansion plans (BR+Es) are considered for funding. Applicants are also encouraged to review the The Healthy Rural Lens for Huron County. (See Reports & Studies under Programs & Services section of this website).
